Healing

“Disease…is fear made manifest on the body.” Mary Baker Eddy

That dis-ease (as the word itself suggests) is somehow connected to fear or anxiety makes sense to me. We know that when we don’t handle stress well we are more likely to have headaches, stomachaches, insomnia, fatigue, etc. When we are being treated for an illness, peace of mind and a sense of optimism seem to help the treatment work better. I’m not saying that a good attitude will prevent bones from breaking, ward off all colds, reduce hemorrhoids, cure ulcers, or relieve chapped lips; but obviously, peace and joy will keep any condition from defining us, and a good attitude will help us participate more fully and effectively in any healing treatment. If we can overcome our fears, maybe we will recover more quickly from our ailments, but even if we don’t, how much better a life not plagued with fear must be!

I release all fear right now and I embrace the healing power of peace. Amen.
